Welcome

Hey everyone,

Welcome to my blog. As the title indicates its nothing much. Apart from the nothingness there will be a few posts here and there giving tips and maybe a recipe or two and a few jokes! I decided to do this blog because I'm sick of sitting around in the evenings just aimlessly looking through the internet and doing nothing porductive so I decided I'd transfer that aimlessness to writting a blog. I hope you enjoy and visit often!

Recipe for the perfect vanilla cupcake

Cupcakes are really easy to make and dont require fancy ingredients. This recipe is for those who, like me, prefer the manual labour of beating and whisking instead of throwing all the ingredients in a mixer for 2 minutes. So here it goes:

Ingredients

Sponge

170g (6 oz) Butter

170g (6 oz) Castor Sugar

170g (6 oz) Self raising flour

3 Eggs

2 tsp Vanilla essence

Icing

150g (5 oz) Butter

250g (8 oz) Icing Sugar

1tsp Vanilla essence

2tsp Hot water

Method

Sponge

  1. Preheat oven at 180o C (350o F)
  2. Beat the 170g butter (at room tempurature) with 170g castor sugar in a large mixing bowl until soft
  3. In another mixing bowl whisk the three eggs until slightly frothy
  4. Add the whisked eggs bit by bit to the butter and sugar mixture beating the mixture well in between
  5. Sieve the flour in bit by bit folding it in inbetween
  6. Add the vanilla essence and mix well
  7. Get a bun tray and place cupcake holders in the slots.
  8. Fill each holder with a table spoon of mixture
  9. Place in oven for 18-20 minutes
  10. When slightly brown on top take out and place on cooling rack

Icing

  1. Beat the 150g Butter with the 250g sieved icing sugar until fully combined together
  2. Add the vanilla essence and hot water and beat until soft

Cupcake

  1. When cooled add a thick layer of icing to the top of each cake
  2. Store in fridge

Makes 12 cupcakes.

There are three main types of car insurance:

  • Third party: Covers the other car if you are at fault in an accident with 2 or more cars. Will never cover you or your car.
  • Third party, fire and theft: This is similar to third party insurance but it also covers your car if it is stolen or damaged by fire
  • Comprehensive: This covers every type of valid claim you make.

In the UK it is the law to possess at least third party car insurance if you drive a car. The reason for this is because a car can potentially damage or destroy possessions that do not belong to the insuree. Unlike health insurance it does not and cannot affect anyone else, or house insurance only affects a house from damage to the house or content. Both these insurances cover something that doesnt have as high a risk factor that it will damage someone else or their property.

Car insurance is compulsary because if you injure someone or damage their property while driving it is your fault so having insurance makes compensation more affordable than a lump sum that you mightn’t have and if you go to court and have no insurance and no money how can the other person be financially compensated? This is why car insurance is compulsary.
